Learn how to safely bring funds to closing, including when to use a certified check or wire transfer.
At 24 Hour Title, we accept funds for closing based on the total amount:
- Under $10,000: Certified check is accepted
- Over $10,000: Wire transfer is required
Due to the increase in fraud involving certified checks, many banks now treat them similarly to personal checks and may place multi-day holds on the funds. If a hold is placed, we are unable to record the deed and complete the closing on time. To avoid delays, any amount over $10,000 must be sent via wire transfer.
How to Wire Money for Closing
We only send wire instructions through the CERTIFID system.
CERTIFID is a secure third-party fraud prevention platform that verifies both the sender and recipient using identity verification, biometrics, and geo-tracking technology. This helps protect your transaction from wire fraud.
You can learn more about CERTIFID here: https://certifid.com/
24 Hour Title will send CERTIFID instructions directly to the buyer (or the party wiring funds) 1–2 days prior to closing.
Important Security Notice
For security reasons, we do not send wire instructions to Realtors or wholesalers directly.
24 Hour Title will NEVER send wire instructions via email or any system other than CERTIFID.
If you receive wire instructions through any other method, contact our office immediately before sending funds.
